Mark Lubich was born in Port Hueneme, California in 1956. His father, a career Navy Officer, moved the family around the country on an almost yearly basis until he retired and the family settled in Seattle, Washington in 1970. Mark graduated from West Seattle High School in 1974 and the University of Washington in 1978. Mark joined the Army in 1981 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1982. He left military service as a Captain after becoming medically disabled in 1988.
