STATEMENT, January 2011:
For me, the process of making abstract art is different in many ways from making representational paintings, which I did for most of my life. Making abstract paintings has allowed me to be more observant of myself.
I am a high-energy person, and my painting process works in tune with that. The size of the canvas that I paint on has an impact upon the outcome of the painting – a larger canvas requires more action. I prefer to work on canvas that has been pinned to a wall because the wall offers more resistance than an easel and that resistance is a partner in the conversation that is the act of painting. I?of
