Complete this entry form to participate in the 15th Annual Exhibit of The National Arts Program® for the City of Raleigh employees and their family members.  There is no fee to enter the program.


  • Participants must be a current employee, or a family member of a current employee of the City of Raleigh
  • Only 1 entry per artist will be admitted
  • All entries submitted must be the original work of the applicant completed within the last three years.
  • Not accepted: kits; paint-by number pieces; photocopies or photographs of artwork; magazine or book illustrations, random snapshots.
  • The National Arts Program® and the City of Raleigh reserve the right to disqualify entries they consider to be unacceptable or inappropriate for a public exhibit.

  • Amateur – a person with little or no experience
  • Intermediate – a person with some experience, beginning art students, etc
  • Professional – a person with serious art training or employed in an art-related job

Artwork will be judged in the classification of the artist’s selection; however, in some cases, the exhibition judges will make the final determination.
Preparing Entries
  • Entrants may submit only one entry which fit into the listed medium categories.
  • All artwork will need an NAP identification label placed on the back (provided at drop off).
  • All 2-dimensional entries should be matted, framed and/or ready to hang with d-rings or screw eyes installed on either side of the back of the frame, no lower than 2” from the top of the piece.
  • All work must measure no more than 48” in any direction or weigh more than 50lbs unless otherwise stipulated.
  • Artwork that does not meet size limitations or specifications will be disqualified before judging.

Rules of Exhibit

  • Deadline This Registration Form must be received no later than November 16, 2018.
  • Delivering Entries All participants must be delivered to the Block Gallery, Raleigh Municipal Building located at 222 West Hargett Street, 1st Floor on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 between 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m, noon - 1 p.m. or and 4 p.m -5:30 p.m.
  • Reception & Awards A reception and announcement of awards will be held at the Block Gallery 1st and 2nd Floor on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Prizes will be awarded by classification:
      • Adult (Amateur, Intermediate and Professional): 3 - First Place Awards of $350; 3 - Second Place Awards of $250; and 3 - Third Place Awards of $150
      • A Best of Show Award of $400
      • Youth / Teen : 2 - First Place Awards of $150; 2- Second Place Awards of $100; and 2 - Third Place Awards of $50
      • An Art Education Award of $200
    • Honorable Mentions  will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
    • Awards are limited to one cash award per artist per classification.

  • Public Exhibit The exhibit is free and will be open to the public from December 5, 2018 - February 15, 2019 during the following hours: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.. The gallery is closed on all City holidays.  
  • Retrieving Entries Each artist is responsible for retrieving his/her artwork from the Block Gallery on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 between 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m., noon - 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.  No work is to be removed prior to the end of the exhibition. Neither the City of Raleigh nor The National Arts Program® will be responsible for unclaimed works.
  • Liability Every attempt will be made to preserve, secure and protect each entry submitted; but neither The National Arts Program® nor the City of Raleigh can be held responsible for damages, loss of art entries, or changes/cancellation of this exhibit due to low participation or unforeseen circumstances. The placing of art in the exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant with conditions herein set forth.  The National Arts Program Foundation and City of Raleigh reserve the right to publish for publicity purposes reproductions of the entries.  The National Arts Program® in Raleigh, N.C. is a public exhibit and photographing/filming of the exhibit is encouraged.
