Santa Maria Public Library, CA Withdraws from National Arts Program®

The Santa Maria Public Library announces the withdrawal of its participation in the
National Arts Program® due to City budget reduction measures. The staff expresses its
regrets to all artists who may have been preparing to submit artwork.

In 2010, the Library joined the program, hosting an exhibition of original artwork by
employees and their family members in Shepard Hall. The National Arts Program®
seeks to remove the obstacles to artistic expression by giving people an easily
accessible forum to develop and showcase their talent. The event is highlighted by an
awards ceremony where cash prizes are awarded and each participant receives a
Certificate of Participation.

The National Arts Program® hopes to continue their partnership with the City of Santa
Maria in the future once the City has resolved these budget issues.
