Postive Changes for Mount Sinai Health System

“Taste of Pomegranate” Iman Tavassoly; Intermediate, First Place Photography; Employee, Pharmacology & System Therapeutics

There were a number of changes surrounding the Fifth Annual NAP Exhibition for Mount Sinai Health System in New York.  The first major alteration to this year’s show was the shift in the scheduled exhibition time.  The exhibit, which had previously been held in late spring, was moved to the fall in order to help distinguish the show from other employee events.  Hosting the show during the November and December months not only provided more of a spotlight on the show, but allowed the artwork to brighten up the atrium of the Guggenheim Pavilion during the holiday season.

However, according to most of this year’s participants, the most exciting addition to the exhibit was the ability to enter up to two pieces of artwork.  In previous years, artists had been limited to one piece per person often causing them to have to make a difficult decision about which piece to enter.  Providing the opportunity to enter more than one piece only allows for more creative pieces of artwork to fill the atrium. Wonderful photographs like Iman Tavassoly’s “Taste of Pomegranate” (pictured), which won First Place in the Intermediate category, might not have been entered if he had to choose between entering it or his other piece entitled “Seabird”.

The NAP is thrilled with the truly positive effect these alterations have had on this year’s exhibition and look forward to more great shows in the future!
