Fantastic Twelfth Year for the City of Orlando
Coordinator Paul Wenzel had another fantastic show for the City of Orlando’s 12th Annual National Arts Program® exhibit. The show entitled ‘City ArtWorks’ ran from June 15th through August 23rd and included 145 pieces of art from City of Orlando employees and their family members. Mayor Buddy Dyer, Marcia Hope-Goodwin, Director of Neighborhood Services and Commissioner Patty Sheehan were all on hand at the June 25th awards reception. Commissioner Sheehan is a huge proponent of the arts and also happens to be a painter. It is wonderful to have local leadership supporting the show and honoring the talent that exists within the employee community.

The exhibit included so many amazing pieces that the task of judging the show must have been a truly difficult one. In addition to the NAP awards the city offers special team awards and this year the first place team award went to Peter Effaldana and Bill Girard for their piece entitled Grapevine Butterfly (pictured below). The large scale work was suspended from the ceiling allowing viewers to enjoy the piece from different angles. Grapevine Butterfly was just one of the amazing works that were proudly displayed in the City Hall Terrace Gallery. Congratulations to all the artists for their wonderful contributions!
