Art Helps Heal at NAPA State Hospital, CA

Napa State Hospital in California held its Fifth Annual NAP Exhibit this year, which hung for more than a month in the gallery space within the hospital. There were over 100 artworks displayed including 35 from the adult categories and 33 from both the youth/teen categories. Coordinator Sally Denman commented that the additional youth/teen category participation was, “especially nice and that many of them came to the award ceremony,” adding that “it’s always fun to have children there and see their faces when they win a prize!”

This year, the hospital had to deal with a particularly difficult tragedy within its employee community and we were told that this exhibit was a nice break for the employees and proves that art can help heal. We are pleased to know that our show accomplishes one of its most important goals, which is to support and honor the care givers in a hospital environment.
