Art Exhibit Features Talents of Local High School Students
The National Arts Program® was privileged to be part of a recent High School Visual Art Contest featuring artworks from students grades 9th-12th all across Chester County. The Domestic Violence Center of Chester County spearheaded the show entitled “Alice in Wonderland - Through the Looking Glass”. The winning piece will be featured on the invitation for their annual fundraising gala and the Chester County Arts Association hosted the show in their beautiful gallery space located in the Exton Mall.
Director of Operations, Maren Reid, volunteered time on behalf of the National Arts Program® to help with registration and intake for the show. In addition to assisting with the organizational efforts the National Arts Program® provided the second place Art Education Award which was presented to Rachael Vince for her piece entitled “Queen of Hearts”.
Rachael and her family attended the January 29th reception and awards presentation and suggested that she would like to use her Art Education Award to offset a college art class this summer. Rachael had even visited the National Arts Program’s® website and uploaded artwork to our Artist Gallery two years prior! We love hearing about talented young artists that are taking advantage of all their local communities have to offer. We hope that teen artists everywhere will upload their artwork to our Artist Gallery and research other ways to share their art with the public within their own local communities.
The National Arts Program® would like to thank the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County for offering this wonderful opportunity to these students. A special thank you also goes to the judges; Victoria Wyeth, Jackie Szafara, Matthew Holliday, Bruce Mowday and Beth Ruggiero for making the very difficult decision of choosing the three winning artworks.
