Complete this entry form to participate in the 19th Annual Exhibit of The National Arts Program® for the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and Public Library employees and their family members. There is no fee to enter the program.

Eligibility

  • Participants must be an employee, retiree or a family member of an employee or retiree of the City of Charlotte, the County of Mecklenburg, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools or Library.
  • Only 2 entries per artist will be admitted.
  • All entries submitted must be the original work of the applicant completed within the last three years.
  • Not accepted: kits; paint-by number pieces; photocopies or photographs of artwork; magazine or book illustrations, random snapshots.
  • The National Arts Program®, the City of Charlotte, and the County of Mecklenburg reserve the right to disqualify entries they consider to be unacceptable or inappropriate for a public exhibit.

Adult
  • Amateur – a person with little or no experience
  • Intermediate – a person with some experience, beginning art students, etc

Artwork will be judged in the classification of the artist’s selection; however, in some cases, the exhibition judges will make the final determination.

Preparing Entries
  • Entrants may submit only two entries which fit into the listed medium categories.
  • All artwork will need an NAP identification label placed on the back (provided at drop off).
  • All 2-dimensional entries should be matted, framed and/or ready to hang with wire securely on the back.
  • All work must measure no more than 36” in any direction or weigh more than 50lbs unless otherwise stipulated.
  • Artwork that does not meet size limitations or specifications will be disqualified before judging.

Rules of Exhibit

  • Deadline This Registration Form must be received no later than January 25, 2019.
  • Delivering Entries All entries must be delivered to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center located at 600 E. 4th Street, Room CH-14/CH-18 on any of the following days: January 30 from 12pm - 7pm; January 31 from 7am - 7pm; or February 1 from 7am - 1pm.
  • Reception & Awards A reception and presentation of awards will be held at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center located at 600 E. 4th Street on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 4pm.
    • Prizes will be awarded by classification:
      • Adult (Amateur, Intermediate and Professional): 3 - First Place Awards of $350; 3 - Second Place Awards of $250; and 3 - Third Place Awards of $150
      • A Best of Show Award of $400 
      • Youth / Teen : 2 - First Place Awards of $150; 2- Second Place Awards of $100; and 2 - Third Place Awards of $50
      • An Art Education Award of $200
    • Honorable Mention Ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
    • Awards are limited to one cash award per artist per classification.
  • Public Exhibit The exhibit is free and open to the public from February 4 - March 1, 2019. The building is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Retrieving Entries Each artist is responsible for retrieving his/her artwork from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center  Lobby located at 600 E. 4th Street after the awards reception on March 1 or March 4 between 8am and 6pm.  No work is to be removed prior to the end of the exhibition. Neither the City of Charlotte, the County of Mecklenburg nor The National Arts Program®. will be responsible for unclaimed works.
  • Liability Every attempt will be made to preserve, secure and protect each entry submitted; but neither The National Arts Program®, the City of Charlotte, nor the County of Mecklenburg can be held responsible for damage or loss of art entries, or changes/cancellation of this exhibit due to low participation or unforeseen circumstances.  The placing of art in the exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant with conditions herein set forth.  The National Arts Program Foundation, the City of Charlotte, and the County of Mecklenburg reserve the right to publish for publicity purposes reproductions of the entries.  The National Arts Program® in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County is a public exhibit and photographing/filming of the exhibit is encouraged.
