Maren C. Reid

Director of Operations

I attended York College of Pennsylvania, where I majored in Graphic Design, minored in both Fine Art and Art History and graduated with honors. In 2007, after a successful career in event planning, I rekindled my passion for the arts and joined the National Arts Program Foundation.

As the Director of Operations, I manage budgetary affairs and ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly. I assist the President and Executive Director with overseeing and managing all aspects of the foundation while also providing direct support to NAP venue coordinators at our exhibits across the nation.

I currently live in Chester County with my husband and two children. Like many of us I feel that finding time to explore my creativity can often take a backseat to many of life’s demands. I am proud that the National Arts Program Foundation encourages people from all walks of life to carve out time in their schedules to produce art and to get their families involved in the visual arts.

Maren's Pick

The painting pictured was created by my energetic three-year old and presented to me as a gift on my last birthday. This colorful creation is prominently displayed in the kitchen right now. Although our hectic daily routines often leave little free time, I try to incorporate a creative session with the kids whenever possible.

Allowing children to express their artistic ideas is so crucial to their overall development. There are many benefits for them such as; developing fine motor skills, helping them learn to focus, it’s a great bonding opportunity, and it can help them express their feelings. There is also no wrong way to make art so it is an opportunity for everyone to feel good about themselves!

It may be messy and they may not be interested at first but I believe if you stick with it, in the end, they will be happier, healthier, more creative kids.
