Our operating mission with The National Arts Program
® is to provide a free and uninhibited opportunity for participating visual artists to come forth with their talents, at their personal skill level, to be displayed professionally for public viewing. By removing the obstacles to artistic expression, the Program gives participants a forum to expand and showcase their talent in the visual arts; this in turn gives them a sense of accomplishment, a sense of self-worth, and a more positive attitude in life. It is sponsored by the private National Arts Program Foundation, Malvern, PA.
Historically, the obstacles preventing artistic talent from coming forth to be recognized have mainly been the expenses, art politics and commercial requirements of exhibits. The National Arts Program
® has absolutely proved there is another way.
For 27 years now The National Arts Program
® has held annual exhibits featuring the art works of employees and their families in more than 450 large and small cities, counties, airports, hospitals and other organizations. What we have found each year is an extraordinary exhibit of artistic talent from "the people". It is truly the indigenous art of America!
The Program is now producing "people's art" at a rate of some 20,000 pieces a year. All these paintings, sculpture, photography, and crafts have been exhibited for the public to see. This has been an immense public relations bonus for the cities, counties and commercial entities as it shows the public the human side of these employees they would never see. Never Hide Your Talent!
NOTE: The National Arts Program Foundation's exclusive purpose is to support The National Arts Program®. Other than the awards and continuing art education scholarships associated with the Program, it does not issue grants to nor does it give specific support to individual artists, or other arts agencies, foundations, or programs.
