Joan Fabian

Fabian is an accomplished artist born in Chicago and currently lives and works in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for her BFA and received her MFA at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
A Fulbright Scholar to Pakistan, Fabian has traveled and exhibited all over the world at such places as the Parsons School of Design in Paris, France, Princeton University and the American Center in Islamabad, Pakistan. She has recently completed two Dutch art residencies in Rotterdam and Delft. She received a Pollock Krasner Grant in 2005 in addition to numerous other awards and honorariums. In 2010, her work was featured in an exhibition, Revealing Culture at the Smithsonian. Her work is influenced by textiles, domestic living, culture and the layers of memories human experience.
