Charlene Rieger-Velli
Adult Intermediate
Charlene Rieger-Velli is an accomplished amateur photographer, who received her first camera at a young age and has been taking pictures ever since. Charlene is primarily self-taught and has a background in both black and white and color film. She now works entirely in digital for the control and creativity not allowed by film. Her diverse subject matter includes nature, people, animals, architecture, everyday objects and anything that catches her eye. Charlene’s work can be found in many local homes and businesses and has been published in New Jersey’s Star-Ledger newspaper. In 2008, one of her photographs was chosen from nearly 17,000 total entries, to appear in the book “Great Destinations NJ”, featuring the artwork of the New Jersey area’s best photographers. Charlene has donated her artwork to benefit numerous community and cultural organizations including her local library, YMCA, cultural and heritage committee and two animal shelters. Encouraged by family and friends, Charlene entered the 2010 National Arts Program, Union County show. One of her photographs placed second in the Adult Intermediate category and secured her an invitation to exhibit her winning work at the Union County Freeholders Gallery. Charlene resides in northern New Jersey. She believes in the emotional value of photographs and is inspired when others respond to her work. She is currently pursuing her growing passion for photography. She can be reached at crvphoto@yahoo.com. |
