Raleigh Boosts Participation through New Communication Tactics

The beautiful Block Gallery space in the City of Raleigh Municipal Building was once again filled with artwork for this year’s Fourteenth Annual National Arts Program® exhibition in the City of Raleigh.  The show, which displayed close to 100 pieces, featured artwork from both City of Raleigh and County of Wake employees and their family members, an increase from their 2015 exhibit.

Coordinator Stacy Bloom Rexrode attributed this year’s increase in participation in part to their used of both visual and digital communications with eligible participants.  Every year, the gallery designs their own professional posters and postcards, usually featuring a winning piece from last year’s show and displays them in prominent places around the city / county to help catch people’s attention.  In addition, they also used internal media blast and numerous reminder emails with important information like registration deadline and drop off date, which Stacy feels were very effective this year.

Finding new and eye catching ways to reach potential participants is always an important element for our long running shows like Raleigh and is essential  in order to help them continue to grow their participation numbers.  We applaud Stacy for stepping back, evaluating and trying new things in order to see what works best for her venue.
