NAP Welcomes Providence Sacred Heart

After meeting the National Arts Program® staff at the Society for Arts in Healthcare conference last Spring, Kevin Benson knew that the NAP would be a perfect addition to their hospital programming. After discussing the benefits of displaying employee artwork with the staff, Kevin was excited to move forward and apply to become a venue in 2012. With more than 6,500 eligible participants, the NAP saw great potential in this new collaboration.

Once accepted, Kevin brought on Arts and Healing Program Coordinator Ann Walker to help coordinate the First Annual NAP Exhibition at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, WA. Together, they did an amazing job of handling everything down to the very last detail.

Napa State Hospital More Than Doubles Participation

With the NAP asking our venues across the country to step up participation numbers in order to make our funding go further, our Napa State Hospital Coordinator Sally Denman really rose to the occasion. Using the NAP Exhibition as a way to boost morale and provide a sense of team spirit throughout the hospital, Sally was able to encourage a number of first time participants to enter the show. “It’s so great to see staff from all different departments meeting and interacting – seeing their fellow workers in a new and different light, as well as patients viewing staff in a new and different way,” stated Sally.

Sally’s inspiring attitude paid off with Napa State Hospital’s highest participation numbers since their inception into the program in 2007.
