"I’ll Get Through This"
The Sixth Annual National Arts Program® Exhibit for the City of Honolulu hung throughout the month of June and included a beautiful collection of art from the employees and their family members. “The creativity displayed in these works is amazing,” said Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts Executive Director Kaleve Iosefa.
Once again, Coordinator Tory Laitila was successful in producing a professional gallery feeling and added to the participants overall experience by including catering and music at the awards reception which was attended by an estimated 120 guests. The awards ceremony took place in Honolulu Hale and the winners were announced by Acting Mayor and Managing Director Douglas Chin.
Napa State Hospital in California held its Fifth Annual NAP Exhibit this year, which hung for more than a month in the gallery space within the hospital. There were over 100 artworks displayed including 35 from the adult categories and 33 from both the youth/teen categories. Coordinator Sally Denman commented that the additional youth/teen category participation was, “especially nice and that many of them came to the award ceremony,” adding that “it’s always fun to have children there and see their faces when they win a prize!”
When a talented artist like Josh, who has a true commitment to the community and his fellow employees, is leading the way, the NAP is sure its sponsorship dollars are going to be well spent. We thank him and his co-workers for their time and energy in helping to bring forth the visual art talents of those in their community.
