Fulton County Sets a Record!

What a terrific year for coordinator Connie Cross. She was able to double participation from the previous show, setting a record for the 19th Annual National Arts Program® in Fulton County, Georgia!

Connie discussed her approach this year and how some new thinking helped to get them such a terrific boost in numbers. This year they created new educational outreach recruitment programs to increase employee participation and awareness of this annual show. They launched their first ever “Lunch and Learn” Program which consisted of five workshops for the employees taught by instructors from their five art centers. During these workshops they explored their creativity and in the last three they focused on having participants produce viable artworks for their NAP exhibit. The majority of these artists were first time participants which helped to increase both their amateur and intermediate categories.

In keeping with their instructional theme this year, Fulton County added another incentive to participants by awarding free art classes to any of their five art centers. Honorable Mention winners were all given this wonderful gift, allowing them the opportunity to explore all avenues of art making in the coming year.

There were a total of 183 pieces of art hung in the Fulton County Government Center Atrium during their September 29th awards reception and approximately 175 guests were in attendance. Connie noted that the Non-Matching Scholarship allowed for a more engaging reception and awards ceremony and helped to provide many extras. One such use was professional photography which they plan on using in a video to help promote next year’s show. It’s wonderful that Connie is looking to keep the momentum going by planning ahead once again. We are truly looking forward to their 20th Anniversary show!
