Delaware’s First Lady Attends Awards Ceremony

The State of Delaware is currently in its 8th year with the National Arts Program and just seems to get better with age. “It is an opportunity for State employees and their family members to be part of an exhibition of visual art. And to share their talents that they’ve been doing at home that maybe they’ve never been able to showcase before,” said Division of the Arts’ deputy director Kristin Pleasanton. The exhibition included artworks from 207 artists and was displayed once again in the Delaware State University Art Center/Gallery.

Prizes were awarded during the March 17th reception by the First Lady of Delaware, Tracey Quillen Carney. Tracey along with over 300 guests attended joined in the celebration which highlighted the various ages and talent levels and included the Best of Show Award and People’s Choice Award announcements.

“Each year we have an incredible number of registrants who have come with their artworks, or their children’s artwork or their siblings. And it’s just amazing to see what they’ve produced,” said Pleasanton. The NAP is grateful for Coordinator Kristin Pleasanton and the Delaware Division of the Arts for their extraordinary efforts each year with this amazing exhibition.
