The Second Annual Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, SD NAP Exhibit was a huge success. The show entitled ‘The Healing Power of Art’ displayed 215 pieces submitted by Avera McKennan employees, volunteers, retirees and their immediate family members. Great care was taken by the coordinator to offer the artists the true art show experience. The exhibition was beautifully displayed, printed materials and signage were artfully designed and the reception was a wonderful celebration attended by over 250 guests.

Coordinator Carol Rogers commented that they had participants from 28 towns and 6 different states representing Avera McKennan and the various Avera affiliate clinics. Pulling from such a broad base of perspective artists helps to ensure an interesting exhibition with a range of mediums. Of special note were two sculptural artists that were awarded prizes including Aaron Culey’s Best of Show piece entitled “Harmony” (pictured) and Amateur First Place piece entitled “Nature’s Music” by Kellie Ramm.

The show was on display in the Avera Prairie Center from July 22nd through August 23rd and drew quite a crowd. The support of so many officials including; Regional President and CEO, David Kapaska, Senior VP of Mission Services, Sr. Mary Thomas, Avera Foundation President, Tim Kromminga and Senior VP of Medical Affairs, Michael Elliott, shows Avera’s true dedication to its employees.
