I've been painting all my life, but the opportunity to participate as wife of a City of Tulsa employee in the Tulsa/National Arts Program Contest in the Fall of 2006 was a catalyst for me to paint more! I entered in the intermediate adult level and was voted/awarded 3rd Place in the Adult Professional Category for my acrylic painting entitled "Zoe". One year later I'm in two galleries in Tulsa to name just a couple exciting developments since this wonderful show.

"The National Arts Program does what cities hope to do at their best ... create community through honoring the individual, bringing them together and celebrating who we are as a whole! The breath of artistic expression in this exhibition is so exciting and the range of expertise is unique. One artist noted that it is great to have young artists showing their work next to professional artists. This sort of experience at a young age can have a great impact and is very encouraging. I thank the National Arts Program Foundation for providing these very simple but valuable experiences to so many people across the country. It really does matter."

"This was my first year as Coordinator of The National Arts ProgramŽ in Dallas. I was overwhelmed with the amount of participation and support from our staff..."

--You were so kind to include my painting in the exhibit at the Library.-This was a big honor for me and I was touched to tears, when I even won a scholarship. I cannot thank you, the GCRAG, and the National Arts Program enough, for being so generous. It was always a big desire, to have one day the time and possibility to paint, but was I was afraid to use the brush. Now this possibility came as a gift. Front Range, COparticipant 2008

"Both the Mayor and City Manager echoed the general consensus that 'this is the best show we've ever had here.' I've never seen the staff so excited, and I'm tremendously proud, not only of the participating artists, but also of the enthusiastic support they've received from the rest of our city family."
